What is AHI?

AHI stands for Audio Hardware Interface. It does for sound what ReTargetable Graphics (RTG) does for, well, graphics. It is a standard that allows programmers to play sound on any audio hardware that is AHI compatible. This means that whatever sound card you own, it is not simply restricted to using software that is designed just for that soundcard but can use any AHI compatible program.
