What are AmigaGuide files?

AmigaGuide is a multimedia extension for the Amiga allowing the viewing of custom-hypertext based files. This means that, like the HTML internet page that you are reading, Amigaguide can display a button within a document that links to another area. This allows files to be read in a non-linear fashion, so the reader can "jump" from one topic to another. previously, to version 2.2, AiG was written in AmigaGuide. AmigaGuide files can be read on most Amiga computers, either with AmigaGuide that came with Workbench 2, Multiview that came with Workbench 3, or one of the freely distributable programs that are available on Aminet such as XPKGuide. AmigaGuide files can also be read on the PC using the freeware utility WinGuide, also available on Aminet. It is also possible to convert AmigGuide files into HTML using one of the free utilities available from Aminet and many Amiga magazines, such as RDAGHTML.
