What is the Demo Scene?

It's very difficult to describe the demo scene. The Amiga inherited the "scene" from the C64 where users pushed the machine to its limits. Basically, it is made up of a number of groups who compete to produce the most impressive "demo." The demo will be made up of a large number of graphics, animations and sound that will show exactly what the hardware can do. The various groups of the "scene" will then organise a party, usually twice a year too show off their latest gems, and laugh at everyone else's poor attempts. Quite simply, without the demo scene there would be hardly any new Amiga games. Many coders have moved into the games industry to channel their coding talent into the latest Doom/Quake clones.
