Amiga Shared libraries

The LIBS: directory contains a number of files called Libraries. These are a set of program command routines constantly used, so that a programmer does not have to repeatedly write the same code. An example of this is the standard file requester, which is accessed through the ReqTools.Library. This means that every requester can remain the same making its use entirely intuitive for a user. These are loaded into memory as needed, allowing software to run with little memory needed. The Amiga uses two types of libraries- run-time and link libraries. Run-time libraries are accessed whilst a program is running. Link libraries are used when a program is being compiled embedding it into the executable. For example, this is used in many AMOS programs.
