OCR- Optical Character Recognition. Software used to change scanned text into a form that the DTP package can understand.

OCS- Old ChipSet. The original Amiga graphics hardware, found in the original A500, A1000 and A2000 systems.

OPERATING SYSTEM- Software that is stored on disk or ROM that controls the basic functions of the machine. OVERLAY- An AmigaDOS feature designed to save memory by only loading part of a program from the drive when it is required.

OVERSCAN- This displays a picture slightly bigger than the TV screen, such as 768x576.
