I find that 31 characters are not enough for my filenames. Is there anything that will allow longer names?

Since Windows 95 was released everyone suddenly wants an OS that is capable of producing 256 character filenames. You are in luck, this great technological leap (note the irony) via a new filing system called Smart FileSystem (SFS) that is available on Aminet (disk/misc/sfs_beta.lha). This allows up to 100 characters for a filename and seems to be pretty stable despite still being in beta release. It will, however, require a dedicated partition. The original limitations will still apply in Directory Opus and possibly other software.
